Educational Scholarships

SFBH Foundation-sponsored scholarships

SFBH Foundation-sponsored scholarships allow hospital team members and area high school students to further their education in nursing and

allied health careers.


Hospital Team Members

Educational scholarships are awarded to South Florida Baptist Hospital team members who have enrolled in accredited programs approved by BayCare Health Systems, maintain a certain grade point average and enroll in a minimum number of hours each semester. Financial support is offered for tuition, books and other education-related expenses. Educational Scholarships offered:


  • A maximum of two $5,000 South Florida Baptist Hospital Foundation Nursing Scholarships for qualified team members.
  • The Ann Hammer Trinkle $5,000 Nursing Scholarship – awarded to a qualified team member. 
  • The Betty Grimes Memorial Scholarship - awarded to a qualified team member.


Conference scholarships are awarded to South Florida Baptist Hospital team members in any healthcare field. Four scholarships are available - 2 nursing and 2 health care professionals. If you ever wanted to attend a conference to learn new information or network with others in your specialty, now is your chance.


Applications are available January and February. More information is available via the Intranet (Team BayCare) search scholarships.


High School Students

Deserving local high school seniors from Plant City High School, Durant High School or Strawberry Crest High School may apply for scholarships if they meet a minimum GPA and plan to major in a health-related field.


  • Three $1,000 scholarships named in memory of James L. Redman are presented at the award ceremony of each high school. The funds are mailed to the school of the student’s choice to pay towards tuition. 


Applications are available (January – March) in the Guidance Office in each respective High School.
